A rare combination of innovativeness and traditionalism, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia is known for his outstanding contribution in popularising Indian classical music across the world. His supreme expertise over his art has singled him out as the greatest living master of the North Indian bamboo flute.
Hari Prasad Dhaurasia was born on July 1, 19 38 in Allahabad . He began his training under Pandit Rajaram as a vocalist. Soon, he switched to flute-playing underwent training from Pandit Bholanath for a reriod of eight years. He worked as a performed as a performer and a composer at All India Radio Cuttack.
Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia has also composed music for many Indian films and also recorded albums in which he has tried to blend the Indian classical music with the music of the world. Pt. Chaurasia has received the National Award of the Sangeet Natak Academy as well as the Padma Bhushan among others.
