MURLI MANOHAR JOSHI
       

Murli Manohar Joshi is one of the top three leaders of B.J.P. He is India’s renowned scholar, as well as an intelligent scientist. He was born on January 5, 1934. His early education was completed at Hindu High School, Chandpur and thereafter he joined Meerut College and Allahabad University to acquire higher education. Pursuing specialisation in spectroscopy, he was awarded Ph. D by the Allahabad University.

       

Dr. Joshi is a strong advocate of a modern, strong and vibrant India. He has been arrested several times as a Jana Sangh leader, mobilising public opinion and leading agitations. In 1977, he was elected to the Lok Sabha and from 1992 to 1996 he was a member of the Rajya Sabha. He was elected fellow of Russian National Academy of Natural Sciences in 2001. He is the first Indian to be elected to this Academy which has many Nobel laureates as its members. The Indian Science Congress conferred on him the Jawaharlal Nehru Award in 1999. For him, politics is not a goal in itself, it is a mission. It is a means to serve.
