Ascion of one of India’s most well-known princely families, Madhav Rao Scindia was one of the most talented and versatile politicians. Being born in a prosperous family, he finished his education at Oxford University.
Madhav Rao Scindia was born in 1945 and after finishing his education, entered politics at the age of 26. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1971, from Guna constituency of Madhya Pradesh. He came into the limelight during the prime Minster ship of Rajiv Gandhi. He was initially appointed as the Railway Minister. Later, he was given the responsibility of the H.R.D. ministry. He remained a member of the house for nine consecutive terms until his death.
Scindia was also a well-known patron of sports. A cricketer himself, he headed the Board of Cricket Control in India and many other sports bodies for several years. He was President of the Board of Cricket Control in India from 1990 to 1993. He died at the age of 56 in an air crash in 2001.
