KAWDOOR SADANANDA HEGDE
       

An eminent lawyer and politician, Kawdoor Sadananda Hegde was born on June 11,1909 at Kawdoor in Karnataka. He completed his education in Law from Law College, Madras. He began his legal profession in 1933 and worked as Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor during the period 1947-51. His political career began in 1952. He was elected as Rajya Sabha member from Congress Party. In 1957, Hedge was appointed a Judge of the Mysore High Court and later served Delhi and Himachal High Courts. In the next year, he became a judge of the Supreme Court but he tendered his resignation in protest against the elevation of his junior judge to the post of Chief
Justice of India.

       

In 1977, the resignation of Dr. Neelam Sanjiva Reddy brought him on the chair of Lok Sabha Speaker. He led various parliamentary  delegations to different foreign countries. He died on 1990.
