Ajit Singh, son of former Prime Minister Charan Singh, was born on February 12, 1939 at Bhadola in Meerut District. He received his B. Tech degree from Kharagpur. Then he went to Illinois University, USA. A computer expert, Ajit Singh was a misfit in Politics, but then fate had different things in store for him.

       

By the blessings of his father, he entered the upper house of the Parliament in 1986. Before this, he was active at district level politics. In 1989, he won his first Lok Sabha elections. Between 1986 and 1989, he fought a bitter political battle against Mulayam singh Yadav, but lost to him. Then he served as the Industries Minister in the V.P. Singh government.

       

Ajit Singh’s political activities have always been related to common people. He was appointed the Vice-Chairman of Kisan Trust. He tried untiringly to come of his own in kisan politics and also in the intriguing politics of his closely-knit and truly tradition-bound Jat Biradari.
