Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1991,
representing the 35th District of California (map). She resides in the "Hancock
Park" area of Los Angeles, which is approximately six miles west of downtown. On
January 29, 2008, Rep. Waters endorsed Senator Hillary Clinton for the
Democratic nomination for president, saying, "We need someone with the
leadership and experience who can step in on day one to tackle the economic
challenges our country is facing."
Her husband, Sidney Williams, is a former U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas.
