WU-TANG CLAN
Known for sometimes brutally realistic lyrics, the Staten Island, New York-based group debuted in 1993 with the platinum album Enter the Wu-Tang. Members then pursued various solo projects, each selling some 500,000 copies of his solo CD. In 1997, the members reunited to create the first Hip-Hop double CD, Wu-Tang Forever. Their music has been included in at least 12 movie soundtracks. Clan members include “Method Man” (b. Clifford Smith, 1971), “Ol' Dirty Bastard” (b. Russel Jones, circa 1969), “Genius” (b. Gary Grice, circa 1969), “Raekwon” (b. Corey Woods, circa 1968), and “Ghostface Killa” (b. Dennis Coles, circa 1969).
