The creator of tilting an mellifluous music, S.D. Burman, was the only composer in the Indian film industry who continued to be active and in demand till the end. Sachin Dev Burman was born into the royal family of Tripura. His early training began under the tutelage of his father. He became a celebrated music director in Bengali cinema. Soon S.D. Burman decided to move to Mumbai. His talent created ripples in the Bombay film world.

       

With the film ‘Baazi’ (1951) began S.D. Burman’s ascent to the top of the Bombay film music world, as well as the beginning of his long association with Navketan.

       

His forte was composing simply structured yet beguiling songs which could be hummed by the average man. His mastery was in spinning high melodies, using only a few musical instruments. ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Kagaz Ke Phool’, ’sujata’, ‘Bandhini’, ‘Guide’ and ‘Aradhana’ are some of the films for which Burmanda scored unforgettable musical scores.
